BOILER REPLACEMENT FAQs
How much could you save?
Heating accounts for about 55% of what you spend in a year on energy bills so an efficient boiler makes a big difference. Modern boilers are more efficient for several reasons, but their main advantage is that they are all condensing boilers. All well-maintained boilers burn their fuel very efficiently, but they inevitably lose some heat in the hot gases that escape up the flue. A condensing boiler has a bigger heat exchanger, so it recovers more heat, sends cooler gases up the flue and is more efficient.
Typical annual saving based on your present boiler rating: G (< 70%) £315 F (70-74%) £220 E (74-78%) £190 D (78-82%) £170 * Estimated figures: Energy Saving Trust March 2019, based on installing a new A-rated condensing boiler.
The right boiler in the right heating system could save you up to £340* a year on your energy bills.
For the ninth year running, Worcester’s Greenstar gas boilers have been awarded Which? Best Buys and their consumers have voted them the Most Satisfied Customers in the Which? Boiler Survey.
What type of boiler do I need?
If it’s time to change your boiler, the first step is to decide what type you need. There are three main types of condensing boilers: combi boilers, System boilers, and Regular Boilers.
Choosing a new boiler can seem daunting and confusing, but we aim to make this process as simple as possible with our ‘nothing is too much trouble’ approach. Our senior engineers promise to visit your property personally and take the time to assess and discuss your needs to ensure your new boiler perfectly matches your requirements. Every client’s needs differ, depending on how many bathrooms you have, the number of people living in the household, and the individual’s lifestyle requirements, e.g., two or more people showering simultaneously.
The best option for you will depend on various factors, such as:
How much hot water do you use? A large family using lots of hot water could be better off with a system or regular boiler connected to an unvented cylinder, whereas a smaller household using less may be better off using a combi.
Are you short on space? A combi boiler doesn’t need a hot water cylinder, so it needs less space. The Worcester Compact range is even specifically designed to fit inside a standard kitchen cupboard!
How long will the initial appointment with the gas engineer last?
When you get in touch via phone, email, message or social media, we will book one of our most experienced gas engineers for a home visit. This may only take 30 mins of your time and most visits are carried out during normal working hours MON-FRI 9 am-5 pm.
Do I need to prepare for the home visit?
When we visit, you will just need to show us where your boiler is located. It would be handy to know its recent history of problems/issues (if any), how old it is, whether it is still under warranty, and whether it’s been regularly serviced.
It’s not an issue if you don’t know this info but it will help us decide if the boiler still has economical use before it’s ultimately replaced.
