SMART GAS SOLUTIONS BOILER REPLACEMENT CLIENT PROJECT
Our latest Kinross boiler replacement took us to a 5-bed property on the High Street.
Our client was about to renovate the kitchen/dining area and whilst the work was being carried out they wanted to upgrade their boiler.
The challenge we faced was that the current boiler took up prime position in the corner to what would have been the new kitchen. This was not ideal as it took up quite a bit of space and the client wanted the boiler to be hidden and not on show.
Together with the client, we spent a couple of hours during our home survey going through the possible options:
- Keep the current boiler location and upgrade the boiler/water storage tank.
- Change the location of the boiler to another room with subsequent pipe re-route.
- Change the boiler setup from a system boiler to a combi boiler that would save significant space.
Old Boiler To Be Replaced
The original setup was a Worcester System boiler with a sizeable hot water tank and an immersion heater.
Taking up a prime position in what would be the new kitchen, we had to come up with a suitable solution that would make the best use of the space.
Sizeable Water Tank
Part of the original setup was a hot water tank that ran of the Worcester CDI30 Boiler. In order to save space and create a better look, it was decided that the water tank had to go.

Worcester is one of our premium boiler brands and this particular boiler gave our client over 7 years of hassle-free heating and hot water.
Although we would always aim to keep functioning appliances, on this occasion we decided that a combi setup would be the way forward. This boiler was taken away by our Gas Engineers to be recylced.
Creating The New Boiler Space
Working closely with the client’s builder, it was imperative that we got the measurements spot on!
The new boiler was to be placed inside a kitchen unit cupboard to leave a neat finish. We literally had a 10mm tolerance work with!
New Boiler Taking Up Position
With the space checked and checked again. Our Gas Engineer Ross templated the area for the new boiler to be fitted.
Most of the original pipework underfloor was in good working order. The new pipework up to the boiler was fitted with the added complexity as it was to be housed in a 500mm tall standing unit.

Our client wanted a high spec, fit and forget, hassle-free boiler. It also had to be able to wirelessly connect to the rest of the heating system and be controlled through a mobile app.

Perfect Fit!
500MM kitchen unit is slid into place with the recommended space on either side of the boiler.
The space that’s been saved for this particular setup has been huge. It also has the added benefit of looking like part of the kitchen once the doors are closed.
Boiler Cupboard Finishing Touches
After the boiler was installed and commissioned it was time to leave the cupboard nice and tidy.
The space above and below were boxed in, hiding the pipework. This is easily accessible by removing the wood panel.
The cable was then hidden once the new electrical socket was installed by the Electrician.
